Journal Entry #8
This isn't the whole video, but what Kevin Allocca was trying to show us is why some videos become so popular and others don't. I thought he did a good job of keeping the audiences' interest throughout his presentation because of the way he presented his findings. He started off by saying his name and what he did for a living, which was professionally watching YouTube videos. Personally, that already had me interested because that seems like the easiest and most fun job anyone could have. Another thing I noticed was that when he was talking, the level of his tone fluctuated. It wasn't just one long, monotone lecture, but had a rather more cheerful vibe to it. Like he was really enjoying what he was talking about and he loved sharing it. He also showed clips of many videos that had become very popular even though they seemed like the most unsophisticated thing you could watch. The videos are stupid, but entertaining and they keep the audience interested. Also, what he's talking about isn't boring. Some videos I've seen are difficult to watch because the topic is dull but this one isn't. It's short and to the point.
